INSTAGRAM BRINGS THE STATUS UPDATE FEATURE TO USER PROFILES: ALL THE DETAILS

Popular social media platform Instagram is improving one of the status update features, which is known as Notes. The new update is rolling out now giving this feature a prominent place in the app. Earlier, Notes was only visible from Instagram’s inbox section. Via a new update, you will be able to bring Notes directly to your profiles.

Instagram’s Notes now available in user’s profiles: Details

Notes was initially launched in December 2022 as a text and emoji-only feature. But, now it includes options for a two-second looped video, which would be visible to mutual followers or close Friends for 24 hours via user profiles.

You can use the front-facing camera within the app to create this type of video and use it on your profile. This new form of expression is designed to make interactions on the platform more engaging and personal.

The Meta-owned app is also experimenting with “prompt for Notes”, which will allow you to share questions for their friends to answer in their updates. It is similar to the “Add yours” template used in Instagram Stories.

The Notes in user profiles will also last for 24 like Instagram Stories, but its pending hours will be only visible to mutual followers. Therefore, it is aimed as a status update for close followers or friends.

Additionally, Instagram is also introducing a new feature called "cutouts", which will enable users to create stickers from objects in their photos. It is similar to IOS’s sticker feature, and you will be able to share these cutouts in Stories and Reels.

You can also take cutouts from other public posts, which allows you different customisations to use this feature. However, Instagram's help page has warned that users can disable their cutouts if they don’t want it to be reused.
