WEIGHT LOSS STORY: 'I NEVER COOK MY MEALS IN OIL AND I FOLLOW INTERMITTENT FASTING!'

Astha Tiwari Shukla (31) always struggled with weight issues. She was one of those people who was never drawn to doing any kind of exercise. It was when she developed health conditions like PCOS, high prolactin, high cholesterol and thyroid, her mental health also took a toll. The only thing she was clear about was that she didn’t want to keep going in and out of hospitals. “Tired of my situation, I decided to lose weight in a sustainable manner. From 95 kgs, I brought my weight down to 64 kgs in a span of 6 months,” she says.

On diet she followed during her weight loss journey

Astha shares she always wanted to keep it simple and doable. “I never tried any of the crash diets ever. I had read about many benefits of intermittent fasting and this is why I zeroed in on this option,” she shares. She lost over 5 kilos every month without ever hitting a plateau. She would eat only in an 8-hour window period and would fast for the remaining 16 hours. “Thanks to intermittent fasting, I sleep better now. I feel light and more energetic too,” she shares. In Astha’s experience, she feels one doesn’t need to do anything else to lose weight if one is following intermittent fasting. She also cut down on sugar to keep her weight in check.

Interestingly, Astha also had junk food from time to time, but in moderation. “If one is able to do portion control, one doesn’t need to fret over when indulging in one’s favourite food,” she says. In addition to this, Astha also avoided cooking any meal in oil. “I have never cooked my food in oil since I started my weight loss journey and I can see that it has paid off really well,” she says.

‘My PCOD has been reversed’

From being called obese to now being called super skinny, Astha has indeed come a long way by exercising control over her cravings. She says that eating in moderation and in an 8-hour window has helped her get rid of her health problems as well. “To my surprise, I have been able to reverse my PCOD condition. Besides, my cholesterol and prolactin levels are also in check now,” she says.
